Recipe: Grain Free Low Carb Pizza Crust

Knowing how much we like to share clever ideas for eating a more low carb diet without always having to miss out on ‘regular’ foods, we were delighted to be contacted by Laura of Fit Chick’s Kitchen with her grain-free, low carb pizza crust to add to our collection of healthier pizza alternatives. INGREDIENTS

2 1/4 tsp quick rise yeast

2 cups almond flour
1 cup chickpea flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup warm water

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Combine all ingredient s in a mixing bowl. It will be thick, sticky batter.
Line a 12″ pizza pan with cooking parchment. Place dough on top and top with another layer of parchment. Roll and press dough out to edges of pan.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Put pizza toppings on crust.
Increase oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake crust with toppings until cheese is melted and slightly browned. Approximately 10-15 minutes.

Makes 12″ pizza. 8 slices.

Low Carb “Oopsie Roll” Pizza Base From Egg and Cream Cheese

We’ve had a few clever ways of making low carb pizza on this site with bases created using cauliflower and tuna to name some of the approaches. This time we’ve found a fantastic egg and cream cheese option called an “Oopsie roll” base from Australian blogger Ash Simmonds (caution – contains some ‘robust’ Aussie language)…
